BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police arrested a 29-year-old man Monday morning who they believe killed his mother and dumped her body in Lake Samish.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies recovered the 64-year-old woman’s body a1nd police tell KOMO she died from trauma to the head and neck.
The son had reported his mother missing the same day her body was found.
The woman’s identity has not been released, but her son was booked on suspicion of second degree murder.

The woman whose body was found, Frances Gregory, died from blunt force injuries to her neck and head, and the Medical Examiner found evidence of strangulation as well.
Bellingham Police developed probable cause to arrest her son Matthew Gregory early July 30 under suspicion of second degree murder in his mother’s death.
