BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Deputies arrested a Bellingham man Thursday after Bellingham Pawn reported an active robbery and deputies say the man led them on a chase.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says Bellingham Pawn on Maplewood Avenue reported Thursday afternoon that a man was trying to steal a generator.
Deputies say the suspected thief assaulted an employee that confronted him before getting in his car and driving away.
A deputy soon began chasing the driver, saying he was weaving through traffic, running red lights and crashed into both sides of a bridge on Marine Drive before the deputy stopped him with a PIT maneuver.
Deputies arrested William Jefferson on a slew of charges, including a warrant for theft.
