A man faces several charges after a confrontation on Meridian Street involving a gun, road rage and a hit-and-run.
Lieutenant Don Almer says officers were called to the intersection of Meridian Street and Telegraph Road at about 6:45 Wednesday evening where Gabriel Vazquez said he was hit by car.
Almer says officers learned Vazquez had been crossing the street against the light and was almost hit by a Canadian driver who braked hard to stop, and gestured angrily at Vazquez who then kicked the car, denting it.
The driver confronted him, but tells police he backed up the car when he saw Vazquez reach for a gun, then sped forward to get away and hit Vazquez who went over the hood and fired a shot into the passenger door.
No one was hurt and Vazquez was arrested.
