BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man suspected of a burglary at PeaceHealth and a recent Bellingham car theft was arrested early Sunday after a short foot chase.
Police say an officer ran the license plate on a car Joseph Gustave Whitefield was driving before he went into a store just after midnight, and it came up stolen.
When the officer went to contact Whitefield he ran off, but the officer soon caught him.
Police say the VIN on the car showed it was reported stolen on April 3rd, meaning a stolen plate was on a stolen car.
Inside the car, officers say they found two computers that had been stolen in a burglary at PeaceHealth at the end of February.
