MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Skagit County cities may be the next to adopt a plastic bag ban.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports a group of retired women are behind the effort called Skagit BAG BANd Wagon.
They spoke at the Mount Vernon City Council in January, plan to speak at Burlington’s in May and want to approach Anacortes, La Conner and Sedro-Woolley as well asking the cities to ban retailers from using plastic bags.
Bellingham has had a plastic bag ban in place since 2012, and many other cities in Washington have done away with the single-use plastic bags in favor of paper bags.
