SAN JUAN ISLAND, Wash. — A six-month investigation culminated in the arrest of two men that both U.S. and Canadian officials say were trafficking drugs and firearms through the San Juan Islands.
KING 5 reports Gary Horton of Washington pleaded guilty in October to smuggling cocaine, heroin, meth and guns in open waters, while William Barnes of B.C. still faces charges.
“Operation Shiprider” involved both Canadian and U.S. officers who say they seized 121 pounds of cocaine, 104 pounds of meth, 2 pounds of heroin, 15 firearms and more than $150,000 in cash.
