OLYMPIA, Wash. — When it comes to the states with the most women business owners, Washington is doing pretty well at breaking the “glass ceiling.”

In a recent study, Paychex found Washington had the third highest number of women-owned businesses, behind Maryland and Rhode Island.

Seattle and Gig Harbor are leading the way, but Olympia, Poulsbo and Vancouver also ranked well in Washington with the highest representation of women-led businesses.

Paychex also found that Washington was in the top 10 for the number of minority-owned, and women minority-owned businesses.
