BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham Police Department officer already on suspension and awaiting trial on 16 charges including domestic violence has now resigned.

Lt. Don Almer says Cpl. Brooks Laughlin resigned April 20th.

Laughlin faces multiple counts of second-degree assault, tampering with a witness, felony harassment, violation of a no-contact order and one count each of felony stalking, criminal trespass and harassment.

He pleaded not guilty April 6.
