BELLINGHAM, Wash. — In an email Wednesday, Western Washington University assured students and staff that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were not on campus, and that the school would not cooperate even if they were.
Vice President of Enrollment and Student Services Melynda Huskey addressed what she called “frightening and disruptive” rumors circulating the school.
Huskey reminded students and staff that it is still school policy not to enforce federal immigration law or work with ICE to investigate, detain or arrest individuals.
She told those at the school to call University Police if they see a person they believe is an ICE agent.
