BURLINGTON, Wash. — A Skagit County nursing assistant is charged with unprofessional conduct after accusations he forged a check from a patient to pay his gambling debts.

The Department of Health reports Patrick Daniel Sigman was working at Creekside Continuing Care Community in Burlington and says he cashed a check for nearly $7,300.

An 83-year-old woman at the assisted living center was notified by her bank about the check and said it appeared to be forged.

Not long after, the department says Sigman admitted to the center’s manager and an officer that he cashed the check.
