WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. — A civilian pilot survived a mountainside crash in Olympic National Park Wednesday morning.
Naval Air Station Whidbey Island reports their Search and Rescue team contacted the pilot on his cell phone and were able to pinpoint his exact location for rescue.
The pilot had climbed 175 yards to a nearby ridge where the Search and Rescue team retrieved him.
He was flown to the hospital for medical treatment, but details on his condition have not been provided.
Navy officials say this was the second rescue of 2018 for the Whidbey Island team.
