BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham School District is thanking the public for supporting the recent school construction bond.
It passed in February with more than 70 percent approval.
They’re also thanking organizations and businesses that have chipped in money and effort in construction projects that are underway.
Executive Director of Capital Projects and School Facilities Ron Cowan says the Whatcom Community Foundation gave the district a one million dollar grant.
“They’re just a great organization. They’ve helped us on lots of different things over the years, but most recently a one million dollar grant in support of our new central kitchen,” he says.
He says that facility will allow schools to serve students more whole, healthy foods.
He also thanks RAM Construction for donating $85,000 worth of work toward the new Options High School, and Dawson Construction for its donation of $100,000 toward a solar array for the new Sehome High School.
