BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A shower truck will soon be available to Whatcom County’s homeless population.
Jim Peterson with the homeless advocacy group “HomesNow! Not Later.” says they’re converting a 1969 box truck into a shower truck with two stalls.
“It’s going to be like an RV. . . . we have a 300 gallon water tank inside, two 150 gallon grey water tanks underneath, and we’re using propane on-demand water heaters.”
He says they’ll dispose of the gray water at an RV station, or possibly use it to water plants in parks if the Parks Department allows it.
They’ll display the truck on May 19th at TERRA Organic & Natural Foods on Cornwall, and a schedule for its location around the county will soon be available.
