BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Homeless youth will soon have a safe space in Bellingham.
Northwest Youth Services is teaming up with the First Congregational Church of Bellingham to establish a non-religious resource center for at-risk youth called The Ground Floor.
Fundraising and construction are under way.
The church said it will open in January 2019 in the basement of their Cornwall Avenue building.
The program will create a space for homeless youth to access resources and case management services.
Youth are also welcome to shower, cook, do laundry, rest, use computers and get mail.
The church will hold a “First Look” event on May 31st for anyone interested to see the space and meet staff.
