HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) — The teen who started a wildfire in the Columbia River Gorge last summer could be facing big restitution orders.
The Oregonian reports various agencies have submitted 11 requests for restitution totaling almost $37 million.
The 15-year-old’s lawyer urged a Hood River County judge to impose a more reasonable restitution.
The teen pleaded guilty in February to reckless burning of public and private property after sparking the massive wildfire with fireworks.
