SEATTLE, Wash. — National Safe Boating Week began Saturday and the Coast Guard is reminding boaters to be responsible while on the water.
Wear a life jacket, take a safe boating course, get a safety boating check, file a float plan, and avoid alcohol or other drug consumption.
Washington’s boating under the influence (BUI) law applies to all boats, including kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and inflatable fishing rafts.
The Coast Guard recommends the safe boating application available on most smart phones.
