EVERETT, Wash. — The same technology used to identify the suspected Golden State Killer was also used to identify a suspect in the 1987 murder of a young Canadian couple on a trip to Seattle.
The Daily Herald reports William Earl Talbott II of SeaTac was arrested Thursday and pleaded not guilty in Skagit County to the murder of Tanya Van Cuylenborg.
The woman was found raped, bound and shot on an isolated road south of Bellingham, while her boyfriend’s battered body was found near Monroe.
Genetic genealogy technology helped investigators track down Talbott.
Police are still working to connect Talbott to the murder of the boyfriend.
