BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham equipment design and manufacturing company has created a one-of-a-kind piece of equipment: the world’s first Skid Steer Mounted Flame Thrower.
Kyle Davis with Eterra says the concept became reality as the company brainstormed creative ideas for an attachment to an articulated arm they created for skid steer vehicles.
“It became a natural question around here. There’s a lot of really smart engineers, a lot of really creative types, kinda ‘wild equipment guys,’ and someone said, ‘why don’t we put a flamethrower on the end of that thing?'”
He says the flame thrower, which can shoot flame up to 70 feet could have practical uses in industry, agriculture and even fire fighting, for purposes of backburning.
Davis says safety has been a main priority in developing the flame thrower.
