OLYMPIA, Wash. — Today is National Missing Children’s Day.
State Patrol reports there are about 850 children currently missing in Washington and 90% are runaways.
The Washington State Patrol Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit works with law enforcement and families to supply information on missing persons.
They also provide child safety outreach at events.
The unit says there is no waiting period to report a child missing.
They urge parents, guardians and caregivers to report missing children to local authorities immediately.
