SEATTLE, Wash. — Half of a million people are expected on ferries this Memorial Day weekend.
The Department of Transportation will have extra sailings on the Mukilteo and Orcas Island routes.
The Seattle/Bainbridge Island ferry route is the busiest and an estimated 120,000 customers will be on board this weekend.
Plan for long lines and busy terminals.
Travelers can make online vehicle reservations for the San Juan Islands, Sidney, B.C. or Port Townsend/Coupeville routes to secure a spot.
