Bellingham, Wash.-For the first time, teams can compete in multiple legs of the race and compete for more than one team.
A Masters category team, 800 POUNDS OF LOVE #12, is planning to use four people to compete in all seven legs of the 2018 Ski to Sea Race.
Timothy Burdick explained to Alex Gray and Joe T Sunday morning that he would compete in the Cross-County Ski leg as well as the Running section.
His teammate, Mark Thibault, is going to do the Downhill Ski section and the Cross-country Bike run. In addition, Dave Burdick will do the Road Bike section and partner with Michael Ellis for the Canoe run. Finally, Michael Ellis will do both the Canoe and Kayak legs.
The first leg of the race, Cross-county Skiing, is 4 miles, the second leg, Downhill Skiing, is 2.5 miles, the third leg, Running, is 8 miles, the fourth leg, Road Biking, is 42 miles, the fifth leg, Canoeing is 18.5 miles, the sixth leg, Cyclocross Biking, is 14 miles, and the final leg, Kayaking, is 5 miles long.
Completing in just one leg is a mighty feat, and competing in two legs of this race is incredibly difficult. We will be watch this team closely to see how they do after this day of intense physical exertion.
