FERNDALE, Wash. — This weekend cities nationwide, including here in Whatcom County, will wear orange as part of a campaign to honor those affected by shootings and demand a future free from gun violence.
Non-profit Everytown for Gun Safety leads the campaign “Wear Orange” inspired by teens who wore the color to honor a young Chicago girl shot and killed in 2013.
Ferndale City Council has declared Saturday Wear Orange for Gun Safety Day with a release of information about safe storage, outdoor gun safety and talking to kids about guns.
It’s Whatcom Wear Orange at the Bellingham Farmer’s Market Saturday where they plan a Party for Peace to support the movement.
