Bellingham Wash.- The Bellingham Bells are excited to announce an Opening Day partnership with Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington.
Make-A-Wish recipient JT will help kick off the season for the Bells at the 2018 season opener on Monday, June 4th, throwing out the first pitch in front of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd. JT will also spend the game in the dugout serving as the home team’s bat boy and hanging out with players and coaches.
JT will be transported to Joe Martin Field by limousine and will arrive to the warm reception of Bells’ players and coaches who will be there to greet him.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming JT and his family to Joe Martin Field on Opening Day,” Bells’ general manager Stephanie Morrell said. “It has been a true pleasure to get know JT and his family, and to work with Make-A-Wish on this fun experience for JT. We truly believe our role is to celebrate those in the community whenever we can, and we felt like this was an absolutely incredible opportunity to do so, while at the same time partnering with an amazing organization and a great local family.”
“Every Make-A-Wish child is a hero,” said Shane Kussman, JT’s wish-granting volunteer. “His spark for life and love for his family is just so awesome. His wish—and now this opportunity with the Bells—takes his mind off all of the medical appointments and surgeries and let him focus on something fun.”
JT and his dad have been practicing JT’s opening pitch. He is excited for the opportunity to kick-off the Bells season and to play catch with the players.
