SHORELINE, Wash. — The State Department of Transportation, like many other employers, is looking at a wave of retirements coming up that is expected to cost them hundreds of current employees over the next few years.
Their latest quarterly performance report, the Gray Notebook, shows up to 42% of their workforce will be eligible for retirement benefits by 2022, half of whom will qualify for full retirement benefits.
The agency says they will need to increase outreach for potential new employees or they could face a staffing shortage.
