SPOKANE, Wash. — We have bomb sniffing dogs, drug dogs, special tech sniffing dogs, and now, invasive mussel sniffing dogs.
The State Department of Fish and Wildlife says they hope to bring a dog to Spokane sometime next year to help check boats for quagga and zebra mussels which can throw off food chains and damage boats and other equipment.
The agency tells KREM-TV a dog could cut inspection times down to a minute or two, and even detect the mussels if they make it into a local lake.
