BELLEVUE, Wash. — With summer in full swing, extra motorcycle traffic causes safety concerns and the State Patrol is stressing road safety to avoid tragic accidents.

King County has already seen thirty-four collisions involving motorcycles since May, three of which were fatal.

Troopers remind motorcyclists that not only is riding on the shoulder and splitting lanes illegal, it is also dangerous for both riders and drivers.

Drivers are urged to practice extra caution as motorcycles can be completely obscured in blind spots and to keep a safe distance since motorcycles can stop faster than a car.
