OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington officials are cracking down on charity scams.
Secretary of State Kim Wyman announced a nationwide donor education campaign to help citizens avoid fundraising scams.
It’s called “Operation Donate with Honor.”
Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed two lawsuits against veteran charities Thursday, including the Spanaway-based Fallen Hero Bracelets and the Florida-based Healing Heroes Network.
The lawsuits accuse the organizations of misleading donors by claiming proceeds would help veterans when they did not.
