TACOMA, Wash. — Steven Powell, the father-in-law of a long-missing Utah woman, died in a Tacoma hospital, a year after completing a prison sentence for possession of child pornography.
Susan Powell disappeared in 2009 and is presumed dead.
Her husband, Josh Powell, was under investigation, but killed himself and their two young children in an explosive house fire in Pierce County while fighting for custody of the boys with Susan Powell’s parents.
Evidence in Steven Powell’s home suggested he had a sexual and emotional draw to his daughter-in-law.
Her family considered Steven Powell the last, most-likely person to know what happened to her.
