CHELAN, Wash. — Campfires are banned throughout the North Cascades.
The National Park Service reports the ban on campfires includes fire pits using wood, briquettes or fuel begins Wednesday, August 1.
It covers all portions of the North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake National Recreation Area and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area as well as all National Park Service lands and campgrounds in the area.
Stoves fueled by petroleum are still allowed.
August is predicted to be above normal for fire danger due to high temperatures and low rainfall, so use caution to prevent wildfires.
