CAMANO ISLAND, Wash. — Family and friends are remembering a mechanic from Camano Island Fire & Rescue after he fell nearly a hundred feet from a Larrabee State Park overlook and died last Friday.
41-year-old Gabe Greaves was watching the sunset with his girlfriend when he fell, and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the cause.
Greaves leaves behind two children and his parents.
KOMO reports a memorial has grown outside the fire department, but his daughter says he’ll never really be gone.
“He’s still with us, he’s just in heaven and he’s looking down,” she said.
Surrounding fire departments are helping to pick up some slack while they look for a replacement for Greaves.
A GoFundMe has been set up for his children.
