FERNDALE, Wash. — One of two men charged in a stabbing and shooting at the Ferndale Motel 6 has been sentenced to jail.

The Bellingham Herald reports 36-year-old John Raymond Vaughan was given an exceptional sentence of 2.5 years with probation for his second degree assault conviction.

Court documents say Vaughan approached, assaulted, and fought Jason Matthew Riemland on March 8 after an altercation relating to a woman who was also at the scene.
