BELLINGHAM, Wash. — About a thousand more people were working in Whatcom County in July than during the previous two months.
New figures from the Employment Security Department show we had a local unemployment rate of 4.4 percent last month, down from 4.7 percent in June and below the 5 percent jobless rate we had a year ago.
The statewide unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in July.
