MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — An air quality burn ban has been lifted for Whatcom, Skagit and Island Counties.

The Northwest Clean Air Agency says air quality has improved enough for them to lift the complete ban which was in effect last week.

But a fire safety ban on outdoor burning that was issued in July remains in effect because of dry conditions.

That means yard debris and land clearing burns are still banned.

The air quality burn ban could be reinstated if air quality deteriorates.
