OLYMPIA, Wash. — Twelve mutilated cats have now been found in Thurston County and the reward for catching the killer is up to $30,000.

Paul DeTray tells KOMO he found the most recent cat in a field in Olympia Wednesday and that seeing it himself made the issue hit home.

“To say the least, [it’s] a little gut wrenching to see somebody’s beloved pet just tore apart like that,” he says. “This person is a sick, callous, disgusting, psychopath.”

Twelve mutilated cats have been found across Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater and out in the county since February and police believe the cases are all connected.

KOMO reports animal cruelty investigators set up task forces where the cats were found.
