BIRCH BAY, Wash. — You can visit multiple state parks in Whatcom County without getting behind the wheel.
Washington State Parks details in a new blog post how people can get to state parks using public transportation.
In Whatcom County, there are two state parks within walking distance of the Whatcom Transportation Authority bus line — Birch Bay State Park and Peace Arch Historical State Park in Blaine.
From Bellingham, these parks are only one bus ride away — no transfers necessary.
Washington State Parks encourages people to get outside and take a lunch, the family or even a bike.
Plus, you won’t need a Discover Pass when you visit a state park by public transportation.
