BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A 70-year-old man was injured Monday morning on the Lummi Reservation when a garbage truck driver backed into him.
The State Patrol says Stevica Devic was backing up to get a missed garbage can on Sunset Way and the truck’s back up tones were sounding.
Troopers say Lyle Vanderyacht was walking in the roadway and despite warning from the back up tones, was hit by the truck.
Vanderyacht was taken to PeaceHealth Saint Joseph Medical Center and no charges are expected.
