MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — After a minor scuffle, Washington State Patrol captured a Canadian woman’s escaped dog off the I-5 freeway.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports the woman was driving on I-5 towing a trailer the evening of August 22 when the trailer rolled and the poodle, named Belle, ran away.

Troopers responded to calls the next morning of a dog trying to cross I-5, but Belle escaped again.

Troopers were back an hour later, shut down traffic in both directions and got their hands on the dog, which bit two of them and scratched another.

The Canadian woman came back down to retrieve her beloved poodle that had belonged to her late husband.
