BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham City Council will soon have a new member.
At-large council member Roxanne Murphy is resigning from the council to take a job as assistant city manager in Valdez, Alaska.
She says on her Facebook page that she was recently laid off from her full-time job and she needed to find full-time employment quickly.
Murphy was first elected to the council in 2013 and has been re-elected twice.
The city council will appoint a new member to fill her position.
