BREMERTON, Wash. — Naval Base Kitsap says it discovered another sewage spill, one that leaked an estimated 450,000 gallons of wastewater into Puget Sound over the past two years.
The Kitsap Sun reports bathrooms in two temporary trailers at the nearby Puget Sound Naval Shipyard were improperly connected to a storm water system instead of the wastewater system directing water straight into the Sinclair Inlet.
The Naval Shipyard found the leak last week after a 80,000 gallon sewage spill in August prompted enhanced testing protocols.
