PORT ANGELES, Wash. — In an effort to prevent suicides, the City of Port Angeles has installed fencing along two bridges.
KOMO reports eight people have jumped to their death since 2009, four of those in just the last year.
The $769,000 project had been talked about for years, but after a 15-year-old girl, who had been bullied, jumped from one of the bridges in November, the community started a grassroots effort to get it done, raising more than $125,000.
The city has a celebration planned Wednesday evening to thank all those involved in getting the project done.
