OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington is getting millions of dollars in federal funding to address the opioid crisis.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced they will award agencies throughout Washington more than $5 million to provide increased treatment, prescription monitoring, emergency services and drug courts to target prescription drug abuse.

The two largest grants will fund efforts by the Department of Health to link prescription monitoring data with public health databases so doctors can make informed treatment decisions.
