BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The City of Bellingham is working on a plan to clean environmental contamination from a site on the north side of Boulevard Park.

City officials and Puget Sound Energy prepared a report with oversight from the Department of Ecology to address the contamination at the site of a former manufactured gas plant which caused environmental damage.

The agency says the contamination on land and in the water is potentially harmful and must be addressed under state law.

Ecology invites the public to comment on the report on their website starting October 8 or to join them for a public meeting at Bellingham City Hall on October 30.
