PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The Coast Guard Cutter Active and its crew returned to Port Angeles Friday after capturing and offloading $87 million worth in narcotics.

During a fifty-day counter-drug deployment, the crew shut down several suspected smuggling vessels off the coasts of Central and South America and seized narcotics totaling nearly 5,800 pounds.

The Coast Guard says two members of the Chilean Navy joined the crew as part of bilateral agreements with other nations and agencies to conduct counter-drug operations in international waters.
