BLAINE, Wash. — A Blaine man had his boat seized and likely faces charges after the Department of Fish and Wildlife says it caught him poaching and stashing crab last month before the season opened.
The agency says on its Facebook it found the man stockpiling his illegal catch in underwater garbage cans and that he admitted to stealing crab from a tribal pot, with the intention of selling it all once crabbing season opened.
Crews seized more than 1,000 pounds of crab.
Crabbing season in local waters opened October 6 and runs through the end of December.
