FERNDALE, Wash. — A new program at Ferndale High School aims to help strengthen the city’s economy by helping kids get ready for future careers.

The Ferndale School District announced that — in partnership with the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce — they are establishing “Ferndale Futures,” an effort to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to be competitive in the workforce.

The program’s first event called “Lunch with Leaders” will pair local employers with 30 Ferndale High School students who will rotate through employer-led sessions to learn about career development and job shadow opportunities.

This will be the first of several Ferndale Futures events during the 2018-2019 school year.

Participating employers include Les Schwab, Gitts Auto Body, Feller HVAC, Gary’s Plumbing, and Lynden Door.
