OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Charter Schools Association is celebrating Thursday’s Washington Supreme Court ruling to uphold most of the state’s charter school law.
The Columbian reports that this rulingĀ appeared to end decades of fighting over the schools in Washington.
Teachers unions, civil rights groups and others had challenged the law, calling it unconstitutional for public money to go to schools not overseen by school boards.
While the court rejected these arguments, it did strike down part of the law that restricted the ability of charter school employees to unionize.
