OLYMPIA, Wash. — An online tracking system for sexual assault kits is now fully implemented and will allow not only law enforcement, prosecutors and medical staff to access the information, but survivors can also track their case’s progress.

The State Patrol says this system – modeled after a similar one in Canada – is the first in the U.S. to give survivors a secure login and a “sense of security knowing their kit has not been forgotten, misplaced or destroyed.”

Chief John Batiste says the system, developed by STACS DNA, is primarily meant to help survivors get answers.
