FERNDALE, Wash. — For the state awards of the best school boards, two districts in Whatcom County made the cut.
The Washington State School Directors’ Association announced the Ferndale and Bellingham school districts are winners of the 2018 Boards of Distinction award.
The award recognizes school boards that demonstrate alignment with state standards including ensuring student and staff security and employing quality teachers.
The WSSDA says three of the twenty-nine schools on the list were marked for even greater recognition as Board of the Year, which will be announced at their annual conference in November.
