BOW, Wash. — A proposal to buy nearly 200 acres of forest around the famous Oyster Dome was officially approved Tuesday.
Hilary Franz, the Commissioner of Public Lands, says this purchase ensures local forestry jobs and that Skagit County schools will continue to get financial support from the industry.
This purchase is part of the DNR’s Blanchard Forest Strategy, which involves the state buying the Chuckanut-area land for conservation while designating other forests for logging and revenue.
Last September saw their purchase of seventy-six acres for preservation.
