BIRCH BAY, Wash. — Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a transient man suspected of stealing hundreds of dollars from a self-service farm stand.
Home Farm UPick and Events owns a stand on Kickerville Road where people buy eggs and other farm products on an honor system by leaving money in a cash box.
Chief Deputy Kevin Hester says someone stole about $275 from the cash box on October 29, so the owners bolted the cash box to the wall, only to find Wednesday morning that someone had pried it off causing $250 in losses.
Investigators identified 40-year-old Matthew F. Brasfield through surveillance footage, which are posted on Home Farm’s Facebook page.
